Columbus native Ronnie Carter was named East Mississippi Community College's 2022 Alumnus of the Year. Mike Luke, Class of 1972, passed away Oct. 12 and was posthumously honored with the 2022 Distinguished Service Award. The two were recognized Oct. 22 during EMCC's Homecoming activities.

East Mississippi Community College's annual Homecoming festivities on the college's Scooba campus will kick off with a Homecoming parade on Oct. 19, with the remainder of the activities scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22, when the Lions square off against Itawamba Community College.

Fourteen students graduated from East Mississippi Community College's Practical Nursing Program in a pinning ceremony the afternoon of July 29 in the Lyceum Auditorium on the college's Golden Triangle campus.

Jamonica Johnson has been named director of Nursing Programs and Associate Dean of Health Sciences at East Mississippi Community College. She assumed the post June 27. Johnson, a Practical Nursing instructor at EMCC before she was promoted, has worked at the college for 16 years.
